My family and I recently went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to learn about the Amish people that live there. They are a strong christian group with a lifestyle that may seem bizarre to us "English Folk" (or non-Amish), but there is no dismissing their dedication.
Keep in mind if you visit that Amish people do not like to pose for photographs, and some will not allow you to take a photo at all. BE RESPECTFUL of their wishes and if you have any indication they are not happy with you taking their picture, then stop. If you have the opportunity, you might even ask if it's okay you snap a photo before you do it.
